Sources Of Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is still a mystery for many people these days, even though it is getting more popular each day. In short, it is green energy made from solar, wind, sun tunnels and more.

Solar Energy: Solar energy is energy harvested from our very own sun. We still tap in the dark as to how much power we can tap from the sun and if we had the knowledge and infrastructure we could probably power the whole planet with the sun alone.

You can install solar panels in your own home if you want to take advantage of solar power.

Wind Energy: Wind power is getting more and more popular these days because by harvesting the power of the wind we can create renewable energy for free. In small ways wind energy has been around for centuries and right now it is perhaps one of the more advanced and known source of energy to humans.

Any modern wind turbine is quiet and simple to run these days. Depending on the required output, different sizes are available. The small units can be mounted directly to the roof, where as the larger units have their own support.

Sun Tunnels: A sun tunnel is basically a skylight. Using a natural light you reduce Co2 emissions while also reducing the energy needed in your home.

Solar energy works by means of solar Photovoltaic (PV) cells. These cells are made from are thin wafers of silicon and then these are connected together to form a solar panel. When a solar panel is exposed to sunlight, the cells convert the light directly into energy in the form of electricity. If you wire a number of these panels together, a solar array is formed. This array then becomes the major component of a solar powered system. Solar panels are available in many shapes and sizes. These days you can buy them even to power small devices such as notebooks.

How Sun Tunnels work? Basically they direct the sun light into a space that generally has little or no light. The size of space is not an issue and the tunnel can bend in many directions. It involves a very simple installation and require no maintenance.

Going Green

Are you sick of huge bills? I bet you are, like the majority of people these days all wish they had less bills to pay. Well this is a way to start cutting your bills back. Go green. Begin a new lifestyle by turning off the power and start using a more renewable energy source.

Today more people are switching to a renewable energy source for a few reasons. Just the thought of reducing the water or electricity bill is enough for some, with others the thought of doing something responsible to help save the planet is reason enough. What ever your motivation the time is now to get started.

Make a few simple changes and you will be already making a difference.

  • Lets start by using some water efficient shower heads and taps, and directing the grey water to the garden.
  • Or how about turning off your appliances' power points at the mains and not leaving them on stand by mode as this chews constant power!
  • Install a water heater timer so that you only heat up the water when you actually are at home and need it.
  • Install solar panels and start to reduce your environment footprint, adding items like this will not only help save on you bills but also add value to your home.
Going green is not hard with a little will. More and more consumers refuse to damage the planet further by resisting plastic bags and other nasties when they are out shopping. Try for yourself, it's easier than you think to go green.
